Peirce College Library :: MLA List of Works Cited

The MLA style list of Works Cited follows a very strict format. In addition to dictating the overall format and layout of your paper, MLA also demands that you format the citations in the list of Works Cited in very specific ways. For each source that you include on your Works Cited page, you must determine the proper way to format it. Sometimes this can be difficult.

We have therefore put together a guide that will show you how to format some of the most commonly used types of resources. For types of sources not covered here, see the MLA guide in the Library. You can look up the appropriate format. Use the left column if you know if your source is a magazine article, journal article, e-books, etc. If you are not sure what you have (and it's getting more difficult to tell with many of the electronic sources), use the right column to find the correct citation format based on where you found the work.

(Note: Many of the examples used in this guide are taken directly from the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 7th ed.)

IMPORTANT! Maximize your browser window when looking at the citations. If you don't the spacing and indentation will be incorrect
