Note: If an author's byline is not provided for the encyclopedia entry, place the term or title of the entry in the author's position.

Basic Format:

Author's last name, Frist initial. Middle initial. (Date of publication). Term or title of entry. In Title of Encyclopedia

(Volume number, page numbers). City of publication, State abbreviation: Publisher.

Example:

Bergmann, P.G. (1993). Relativity. In The new encylopedia Britannica (Vol. 26, pp. 501-508).

Chicago: Encylopedia Britannica.

In-text citations:
  • Direct quote: According to Bergmann (1993), "Insert quote here" (p. 504).OR "Insert quote here" (Bergmann, 1993, p. 508).
  • Paraphrase: (Bergmann, 1993).
